Volunteer at BTPA

As an entirely volunteer-run organisation, Bahay Tuluyan Philippines Australia always welcomes new volunteers to contribute.

Volunteering opportunities are very flexible and offer a fantastic way to meet new people, improve your skills, and make a real difference to the lives of street children across the world.

Bahay Tuluyan Philippines Australia is proud to be 100% volunteer-run

Ensuring that money raised goes to supporting vulnerable children. We encourage you to share your passion, time and skills to make the world a better place.

Volunteers can help:

  • To run an individual event (eg. KidsView, the dinner)
  • At an individual event (eg. KidsView)
  • With a specific task (eg. marketing, grant applications, administration)
  • To set the vision and direction (ie. be on the committee)
  • With simple tasks (eg. labelling bags, preparing packs)

Volunteers can work at our headquarters (in Essendon) or remotely. We encourage everyone to make contact to see how they can best contribute.

General Volunteers

Throughout the year, we have regular tasks to complete as well as peak periods (KidsView).

Our volunteers receive BTPA Volunteer updates, outlining upcoming events and an invitation to help complete related tasks.

Volunteers are encouraged to find tasks that match their time commitments, skills, and interests.

Our headquarters are in Essendon, Victoria, but many of the tasks can be completed remotely.

Administrative Volunteers are vital in the weeks leading up to KidsView conferences. They are needed to ensure the necessary supplies (E.g. workshop kits, name tags, certificates) are ready for each conference or incursion.

Facilitators are required to lead the students through set workshops, running a facilitated discussion afterward.

Facilitators with first-hand experience working in development are encouraged to draw on and share this experience during the discussion.

The workshops run in the middle session of the day, although it is beneficial for facilitators to attend the full day (9:15 – 2:30) to gain a context for their workshop.

Conference Assistants help set up the conferences. This could include preparing materials for workshops, distributing materials to students, preparing morning tea and lunch for staff, and assisting with setting up and packing up.

No special skills are required – just a willingness to help out between 8:30 am – 3 pm on conference days.

“To make a difference in someone’s life, you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful, or perfect. You just have to care.”

– Mandy Hale

How can I help?

There are so many roles. We are particularly good at finding a way to match a volunteer’s interests, skills and time to a role.

This could be as simple as wrapping hampers for our silent auction, to as complex as coordinating events.

Is training provided for workshop facilitators?

Yes. Every year we run a volunteer training session to ensure that volunteers understand their role and the workshops they will be facilitating.

Who do I contact?

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Clare – clare@btpa.org.au

What is required?

As a Child Safe Organisation, all volunteers require a Working With Children Check.
They will need to read, understand, and implement BTPA’s Code of Conduct, Occupational Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies.

Where can I volunteer?

Our Headquarters are at 21 Cooper St, Essendon. KidsView Conferences are mostly in Melbourne, with occasional tours to South Australia and NSW.

There are many ways for volunteers to support BTPA remotely, using the power of online drives and video conferencing technology. Regardless of where you live, we encourage you to get involved.

Get in Touch. Get Involved.

Bahay Tuluyan Philippines Australia has a tireless volunteer committee.
It's our committee's dedication that ensures BTPA achieves its mission.
We are always open to applications for new committee members!
