We would like to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of different schools to support BTPA. Thank you for taking the time to help improve the lives of children in the Philippines.
If your school has also helped BTPA this year, we would love to share your story too. Email details to anne@btpa.org.au
Bethany Catholic Primary
As part of our social justice student leadership roles this year, we had the opportunity to learn more about social justice issues including poverty and inequality. We attended the Kids View Conference by Bahay Tuluyan and did a number of activities which challenged our view on the unequal distribution of wealth and resources, especially in developing countries. It made us feel grateful for the privileges that we enjoy in Australia and we wish that other students around the world could experience the same opportunities and basic human dignities of a safe home and opportunity for education. As part of Catholic Mission Month in October, we decided to raise money for Bahay Tuluyan in hope of helping homeless youth in the Philippines. We organised a charity stall selling keyrings, stickers and toys over 2 days. We advertised this initiative at our school by creating a presentation about our wish to help children in the Philippines, which we presented to every class in the school. Our fundraising efforts were very successful and we were proud of our efforts. We hope that the money we raised will be able to help the kids of Bahay Tuluyan and make a difference in their life.

St Columba’s College
St Columba’s College Annual Bike Ride is pleased to support Bahay Tuluyan. This year our Bike Ride occured on Friday 1 November. Students and teachers rode from Essendon to Williamstown and back. It was a successful day thank you to the enthusiasm and dedication of St Columba’s College staff and students.
I enjoy participating in the Bahay Tuluyan Bike Ride as the money raised is for a fantastic cause and the girls that participate generally have little experience in long distance bike rides, but clearly demonstrate great resilience as well as having a lot of fun riding with their friends. (David Bramham, Teacher)
Going on the Bahay Tuluyan bike ride was a really fun experience to raise money to help others. I particularly loved how I could use my love of cycling to do good. It was also amazing to meet other young people with a passion for social justice and connect with others on a lovely sunny day. (Charlotte , Year 11, Liturgy Captain)
I love to participate in this annual event since it is supporting a great foundation that is run by one of our very own alumni. (Shellie , Sports Administrator)
The Bahay Tuluyan Bike Ride 2024 was my first time joining, and it was such a fun day! We rode 35km from Essendon to Williamstown, with a great pit stop where we enjoyed amazing açaí bowls. I loved getting to know older students and making new friendships. I will definitely recommend this ride to any students thinking about joining next year! (Harriet , student)
